Grunk

Grunge noun. – a raucous style of rock music; a ragged style of clothing associated with this music.

Punk noun. – an anti-establishment and deliberately outrageous style of rock music, popular in the 1970s; a follower of this, a hooligan or lout.

Grunk: A mixture of grunge and punk, this trend is hot on the street scene. The look, first popular in the Nineties has made a come back. This new style differs from the original look, championed most obviously by Nineties grunge band Nirvana and has a softer and more fashionable edge than the punks of the Eighties as although it’s still messy and rebellious, it looks like people have actually thought about what they were wearing and made an effort.
  • Extreme shredding/slashing
  • Studs/Chains/Safety pins for a rock edge
  • Exposed layers beneath shreds for dramatic appeal
